Surfs Up!

Ever since our adventure to Fraser Island we’ve noticed that the sun rises earlier further up the coast, meaning that it gets dark early in the evening as well. So we’ve changed our routine to take advantage of all the daylight hours and have been getting up earlier every day. We were packing up at 6:30 this morning to shave some distance off the 780 km left to Airlie Beach. We’d heard about two little quiet holiday towns that people said we should stop in at if we had a chance, 1770 (yup the town has a number for a name) and Agnes Water. Jenna saw some people surfing at Agnes Water and decided today would be a good day to try it out. We walked down to one of the surf shops, rented a board for a couple hours and had a lot of fun and actually got up on some (small) waves! It’s definitely not as easy as some people make it look. On our way to our campsite, we drove through Rockhampton, Australia’s beef capital, where there are giant bull statues everywhere and not much else. We are officially in the Capricorn coast as we passed the Tropic of Capricorn as well.
